ANIMAL KANJI: Like Transformers, but Cooler

Check out this awesomeness! These kanji characters from Bandai transform into what they represent. "How can they get this 馬 to look like a horse?" you ask? Well take a look-see:

They have the kanji for dog, dragon, tiger, fish, horse, and bird. I imagine that if they could make all 2000 or so kanji characters into toys which can transform into what they represent, I would be able to read a newspaper without a dictionary in two weeks. All I would have to do is visualize my little Mojibakeru toys  (もじバケル、aka Letter Transform, which doesn't really have the same impact when you say it in English...) in action.

These are only 100 yen. It is blowing my mind.

Toyota Plant

We visited the Toyota plant, and then the Toyota Museum. Unfortunately, photos and video were absolutely not allowed within the plant. It really is a shame, because it was amazing. Something about the organization of everything -- all of those moving parts, human and robot, working together -- just wowed me. I felt like I was breathing efficiency and seeing the future. (Comments about Toyota brakes aside). I suppose you can see the way humans and robots work together in car factories on commercials, "How Do They Do It?", etcetera, but to see it in real life, on such a scale, I think is really awe-inspiring. One thing I can tell you is: the Toyota plant used different tunes to apply to different teams/sections of the factory. It was cute.

トヨタの工場と、トヨタ博物館も見に行きました。工場では写真もビデオも撮ってはいけなかったのですが、本当にすごい場所だからそれは残念だと思いました。 何となく工場の人間とロボットが一緒に働くシステムなどに、胸がわくわくさせられます。 その効率的な雰囲気を体験して、まるで目の前で未来を見ているような気がします。（ブレーキのことは略します。）おそらく車工場の働きぶりなどは、CMやテレビ番組で見られると思いますが、本物を見るともっとすごい印象を受けると思います。

番組などでは教えてくれないことを、私が一つ教えてあげられるかもしれません。トヨタ工場では、あるチームって言うか、ある部署ではチャイムとして音楽が流れます。例えば、Aチームには、Mary　Had　a　Little　Lambで、Bチームの曲はTwinkle　Twinkle　Little　Starという感じです。面白かった！

トヨタ博物館で・・・

博物館も面白かったです。車に乗れるショールーム も、決まった時間にトランペットを吹くロボットも、車の色々な部分や略図、未来的な設計コンセプトの絵もあります。博物館自体は、それほど大きくないけどとっても面白い場所で、また、効率的な工場を見学することもできてすごい体験でした。

ところで、博物館に展示してあった、未来の乗り物を、名古屋の中部空港で実際に見ましたよ。観光フロアにいたガードマンは、とてもSF的ですね。

実は、ちょっと怖かった。「人間狩り用、未来派の車 」という感じがしませんか？

「ほほほ、自転車に乗る子供、それは私の大好物・・・」

...when it comes to jam and butter.

So, you don't even need a knife with these things. You just bend the hard plastic packet and the jam and butter come out at once. They even have these things at McDonald's, apparently. Maybe barbecue sauce or soy sauce comes out of those. I don't know. I'll probably go and find out soon, because they have something called a Texas burger which I'm thinking of trying one day. I'll have to go without breakfast or dinner, because I think it has eggs, macaroni, hamburger and bacon on it (judging from the picture as I remember it in my mind – don't trust me).

Anyway, buttering and jamming -- yes, jamming -- my bread this way made me feel so advanced. Who cares about talking toilets or whatever when this kind of wonderful invention exists?

・・・バターとジャムといえば。

だから、これを使えばナイフさえいらないよ！硬いプラスティックでできた容器を折ると、バターもジャムも同時に出るんです。

マクドナルドにもこういうものがあるんだそうです。わからないけど、マクドナルドではバーベーキューソースかしょるが出てくるのかな。実はテキサスバーガーというものを売っているから、たぶんすぐ行って調べるだろうと思います。いつか食べてみるかもしれないけど、（たしか）たまごもマカロニもハンバーグもベーコンも入っているみたいだから、朝食か夕食を食べないで行かないといけない。

話を元に戻して、こんなふうにバターったり、じゃむったりして、自分もハイテクな人間だなという感じがしました。（バターをのせること、バターる。ジャムをのせること、ジャムる・・・新しい動詞を作ってしまった！どうぞお使いください。）

こんなすばらしい発明品があれば、 話すトイレやなんかはそんなに面白く見えないですね。
